Version 3.0
Accident Data Entry/Editing/Transfer
The Accident Data Entry Form allows fast manual data entry from the motor vehicle accident reports or accident data description spreadsheets into the HSA Software. It contains controls for various accident categories and conditions, pull-down menus, help windows, and the voice assistant button. This form can also be used for data editing or updating. Each accident record receives an automatic sequential number, which is used for identification on the Details of Accident History listing and Collision Diagrams.
Even though the Accident Data Entry Form is very convenient to use, the data entry process is still one of the most time consuming operations of the accident analysis. In order to make this process easier, the HSA Data Transfer procedure can be developed to convert the standard accident data files from your system into the HSA Software format. Since every state or country has its own accident surveillance system with different accident data formats, a separate procedure would have to be created for each jurisdiction.
We have already developed HSA Data Transfer procedures for some states and municipalities. We would like to encourage government agencies and consulting companies conducting traffic studies to send us sample data files and data definitions from your accident surveillance systems. We will use this information to design the data transferring procedures for you.
We are also currently involved in developing data conversion programs for SafetyAnalyst - the FHWA set of traffic safety software tools, and for Traffic Engineering Software by TES Information Technologies. Users will be able to transfer data from these macro-analysis tools to HSA Software for further detailed evaluation and generating Collision Diagrams.
